PINE TREE ENVIRONMENTAL & EDUCATION CENTER*
In October of 1993, the Burlington County Council opened this outdoor facility in Tabernacle, which adjoins Wharton State Forest. It has six heated cabins, each equipped with six double bunk beds with mattresses for sleeping twelve. Each cabin has a kitchen equipped with a refrigerator-freezer, sink, cabinets, stove with oven, and a bathroom with hot showers. Also there is a two story Conference Center with five bedrooms and bath on the second floor. The first level has a large auditorium-style room with ten tables and one hundred chairs. There is also a one-story lodge building capable of seating one hundred auditorium style, and eighty comfortably for eating. There is also a fully stocked Trading Post on the premises, and there is a resident facilities coordinator living at Pine Tree. All reservations must be made through the Scout Service Center. Pine Tree’s phone number is 268-0717. Nearby is Batsto Village, an historically preserved colonial town, which has many seasonal weekend activities. If you enjoy the outdoors, there are endless trails through the Pinelands; or try canoeing the Mullica, the Oswego, the Batsto, or the Wading, four beautiful rivers that are sure to please your sense of adventure. Rental Canoes are also available at Pine Tree. Come on out and enjoy the beauty of the New Jersey Pinelands - America's first National Reserve.
